Home Phone

So, I am thinking of getting Vonage for the house. This will maybe help with the long phone calls I am expecting to have during this deployment.

Anybody have it? I do know that the 911 issues of the past are gone. You can call now and get your local emergency center. That was the only thing that I was hesitant about. What do you think?!

Keep looking. The rate per minute to afghanistan is STILL 1.25 a minute with Vonage. Surely something else has it for less! I've got to get on Google and find where Rob will be. Let me know soon exactly (or as exact as you know) where he is!

Melissa, my husband's ex wife has this.

He says that many times he'd call the number (to talk to his daughter) and get some dude (believe me his ex does NOT have a boyfriend). Same dude whenever this would happen; like a mis-connect or something.

Also, since it's connected to your Internet, if the Internet is down, your phone is down. And, if the Internet is working but busy, you may or may not get phone service, or it's slow...or, it may crap out in the middle of a call.

We wouldn't recommend it. I don't really know any other options, though, since we only use cell phones and don't have to call out of the country.

Sorry...good luck...we're thinking about ya!

Vonage works pretty well, but not quite like a landline. I would look into pre-paid phone cards and compare those to Vonage.

So write another email and explain that it is not for calling Rob but for all of the calls that you'll be getting from wives and loved ones of those deployed--from Ft. Knox....I thought it was so you could call ROB! Silly me! Thank goodness for satellite phone services!
