Yellow

Yellow -- tune of... hmmm... I can't think of it. I can sing it though :-)
Y-e-l-l-o-w spells yellow *Ye Haw*
y-e-l-l-o-w spells yellow *Ye Haw*
Like the early morning sun,
when the day has just begun
Y-e-l-l-o-w spells yellow.
Daffodils and baby ducks are yellow *quack, quack*
Lemonade and scrambled eggs are yellow *yum yum*
Like the early morning sun,
when the day has just begun
Y-e-l-l-o-w spells yellow.

Color Songs

I found the color booklets that Faith brought home from school today as I was trying to clean the kitchen. I told mom I would write them down quite a while back, but never did... So, here goes.

**Warning -- they really get stuck in your head :-)

Brown -- to the tune of Bingo
There is a color we all know.
Can you guess what it is?
B-r-o-w-n, b-r-o-w-n, b-r-o-w-n,
That's how you spell brown.
Teddy bears and squirrels are brown.
Autumn leaves are too.
Chocolate candy's always brown.
Chocolate cake is always brown.
Chocolate milk is always brown.
I like brown, don't you?

Blue -- to the tune of The Farmer in the Dell
B-l-u-e spells blue.
B-l-u-e spells blue.
Hi! Ho! Did you know?
B-l-u-e spells blue.
The big sky is blue.
The ocean is too.
Hi! Ho! Did you know?
B-l-u-e spells blue.

Red -- to the tune of Are you Sleeping?
R-e-d red
R-e-d red
I can spell red.
I can spell red.
Firetrucks are red.
Stop signs are red, too.
R-e-d, R-e-d.

Green -- to the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat
G-r-e-e-n, g-r-e-e-n
I know how to spell green
G-r-e-e-n
Caterpillars are green,
And grasshoppers too.
I know how to spell green
G-r-e-e-n

There are some others floating around too... I know I have seen White, Purple and Black. I'll post those when I see them.

Random Update

I had a problem. My family will already know about this problem because when they were all up here when I was complaining about it. What is it? I couldn't keep my cabinets above our stove from keeping a sticky, nasty film on them. I asked mom what to do... she told me I would have to get some degreaser and that I'd have to probably order it online because the stuff at Walmart was worthless. Katelyn suggested using 409.

I was walking through the PX the other evening and found some stuff. Goo Gone. It is this thick orange goo that smells wonderful and only needs the smallest bit to take the yucky off of my cabinets. YAY!

Grace's perspective

So it has been too long since I got a chance to blog, but I wanted to make sure I got this one in --

The ADVON party of this deployment left this morning. As a farewell (since these guys will miss the farewell ceremony), the FRGs decided to give them goody bags. One of the things that we included was a personal letter from a loved one. The loved one emailed a letter to me and we printed and put it in their bags. Then when they got hungry or thirsty and went into their bags, they'd have a great surprise. Well, some of our soldiers don't have a loved one that they have given us to contact. Some are truly trying to break the cycle of their childhood and have broken all ties with their families. Others just think their families don't need us calling and giving them updates -- these are usually the first deployment people who don't have a clue. Well, anyway... I wasn't going to let somebody NOT have a note. So, I bought some "Thank You" cards to put in those bags. I asked Rob about each person -- what is his/her job, is s/he good at it, etc -- and wrote a personalized letter to each of them. After about three, I felt like I was repeating myself, so I asked Rob for some suggestions of things to write.

Grace chimed in. She said "Just write 'Sorry you have to go to Afghanistan. Wish you could stay here.'"

Oh how true that is! If only I could be that honest in these notes. I was quite impressed with Grace for having that as her sentiment.

The dread has set in...
